It looks like there is a discrepancy with your booking. She could have approached my mom saying, ”Hi, I'm So-and-So, the owner. You need to get off my property.” WTH Really? This mean lady was gaslighting my mom, bullying her, and was mad at us for just for walking thru the door. Then 3 seconds later I just heard her tell my mom, ”Nevermind. After a heated conversation, the owner says she will allow me to stay. If they wanted to help, they could have.but they did not. Meanwhile, the clerk keeps saying to my mom, ”She's just trying to help you.” That's a lie. The lady was arguing with my mom about their rules. I kept falling asleep on their staircase during this time because I was so tired. My mom explained to the owner that our room was already paid for, that she had booked it thru as a minor + adult, and that it was 1am already.we're exhausted and where else are we gonna get a room at that hour. Minute later the owner came in and told my mom that I was not allowed to stay there because I'm under 18. When we arrived, the clerk was like, ”Reservation?” like my mom was speaking Greek. It was only 15 min away with a lot more to do there. We are on a big family trip and it ended up working out in our favor as we found a beautiful hotel near downtown La Jolla right by the ocean. It was absolutely terrible! The inside of the hotel was nice, but the surrounding area wasn’t great. This hotel was a stop for us on a long trip, and it was the only hotel I could say anything bad about out. When your front desk staff treats guest like that, it’s a reflection of poor leadership skills. The manager came, and I couldn’t listen to his excuses at that point. She didn’t even offer or care to help resolve the situation. The lady at the front desk, Alex, told us upon arrival that our reservation rate wasn’t valid (which was booked through Marriott and valid at every hotel we have stayed at in the past 8 years). We booked three rooms for three nights and ended up cancelling when we got there. It may be unusual for someone to leave a review of a hotel when they haven't even registered as a guest, but the vicarious thrill I received from witnessing my family's admiration for the holistic experience, compelled me to write and recommend it to any visitor to America's Finest City.Ġ.59km from downtown I have never experienced such horrible service from front desk staff. She clearly loves the Hotel, and the people and guests with whom she works, and her positivity was evident throughout. Merry, who greeted my family from behind the desk as they arrived, seemed earnestly interested in enhancing our time and enjoyment at the hotel, & was attentive, friendly, welcoming, & professional. While each of ,”the Crew”, as they referred to themselves, was outstanding, I feel as though I should mention one employee by name. This is where the incredible staff figures into the equation. As is the case with any edifice that has remained standing for so long, there are sometimes logistical issues that one might not experience during a modern hotel stay. The building is historic, and it was fun to imagine it's long glamorous history amid the nuances of an earlier era, while we explored the unique, and ornate stylings of the rooms, and the incredible views from the rooftop terrace. My siblings, & their spouses planned a visit to see me in my city, & chose the Gaslamp Plaza Suites as their local base of operations while they were in town. 0.45km from downtown I live in the Marina district in downtown San Diego.
